Ate sandwich and grapes for breakfast because we got up and off before the town did, hoping to beat the 100 degree forecast. Beautiful riding, until, our new invisible enemy, the wind! 30 mile an hour sustained winds are what we are dealing with today. It's possible, we've done 62 miles thus far, it's just hard and heck and we get blown off the road periodically, then scream some when you realize you've only gone 1 mile and it feels like 10.
Oh well. Tomorrow we will rejoin our TransAm route and hopefully have breakfast with some fellow bikers coming from the other coast Blair, a fellow Yoga To The People Trainee and her lovely sister Asta.

Not quite that hot here but almost. We have the benefit of being able to head inside where it is cool. The cool weather we experienced in Yellowstone is something we can dram about. I can't believe you and Andy are on Day 31. Look forward to seeing more pictures when you get back East in the Fall. I admire the both of you for even attempting this monumental journey. Love, Patma
I folo your route with a high-lighter. On my first trip I knew I was in the real west when I crossed the Platt R. in Nebraska -- corn country to hay country. You'll know when you see those Rocky Mts. in the distance, abt a third the way across Colorado. Then the fun begins, the magnificent western US. Granddad G
How poetic to have a rest day in a Scandanavian town. I had no idea it existed. I love all the nordic names: Thor, viking, etc. Glad you were able to regroup and give your joints and muscles and your psyches some TlC. In answer to your question, Charlie and Cheri and Kalean and Chloe are all right but the forest burned right up to the edge of their highway although it did not cross to the coast side of the road. At one point they had 22 people staying with them who had evacuated from the other side. One of Cheri's friends lost her house. Apparently miles and miles of forest are now white ash. But the coast side of the road seems safe for now, at least where Charlie and Cheri are. You were right to be concerned. mgb
B&A:
Got your phone message and sorry not to have gotten the info on the blog earlier. Now I have some catching up to do. I'll hold my comments until I catch up (I'm up to day 8) only to say that I'm intrigued by those "horse people" you met on day two or three. Am I correct in thinking you met some centaurs?
Really awesome adventures, keep it up!
Mark
